Dana has written about about classical music for the Hartford Courant, New Haven Register, Waterbury Republican-American, and Parterre Box, and she contributes program notes to the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and Yale School of Music. Her feature articles include interviews with Joshua Bell, Josh Groban, Yo-Yo Ma, Audra McDonald, Maurizio Pollini, and Deborah Voigt. Her writing has also appeared in the Arts Paper and the journal Discourses in Music, and she has also ventured into food writing. She was selected as a fellow for the 2010 NEA Arts Journalism Institute in Classical Music and Opera.


As a pianist and keyboardist, Dana performs with A Broken Umbrella Theater Company and has appeared with the New Haven Theater Company and Jerusalem Musical Theater Company. She was a founding member of the folk-rock band Document 183 as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and vocalist. She has performed in venues including Cafe Nine (New Haven, Conn.), The Space (Hamden, Conn.), and The Nines (Ithaca, NY), and she appears on recordings by Document 183 and singer-songwriter Arjuna Greist.
